Fortress
Here are some images of Monograms 1/48 scale Boeing B 17-G Fortress. One of the American's most important aircraft of World War II. It had a top speed of 287 mph, a range of 3400 miles, an operational ceiling of 35,600 feet and could carry a bomb load of 6000 lbs. Due to a lack of long range escort fighter protection in the early days of the daylight bombing campaign against Germany these aircraft were being shot down by the hundreds. It was getting to the point that the American air force were seriously considering scrapping the idea of daylight bombing. Of course with the arrival of fighter aircraft like the P51 Mustang which could escort the bombers to their target and back they were able to carry on daylight bombing with success.
Beautiful job. I also really enjoy the narratives. A bit of history!
