Dave Porter's Y Wing

Here is my SMT 1/48 scale Y-wing fighter photographed inside one of my cabinets. When I bought this kit, it was the only 1/48 y-wing around. It fell short in a lot of areas but SMT drastically improved their later versions. The kit is about 95% resin which required a lot of prep before assembly. The detail was not very extensive so I wound up adding about 300 small parts to it. I liked the fact that they gave you two R2 units and three different pilots from which to choose. I cut open the canopy, added windows and scratch built a targeting computer. I might eventually get this on a “Hoth” diorama.
