Here are some images of Revell's 1/32 scale Arado AR 196 B floatplane.
From Wikipedia"
In November 1937, the Arado design plans of the zero series were available in the Ministry of Aviation. It commissioned in February 1938 the construction of ten pre-production aircraft. The aircraft were all produced by the Arado plant in Brandenburg. The first machine was completed on October 18, 1938. Until the end of 1938 was followed by three more, and until April 1939 Arado could complete the order. The A-0 differed only slightly from the two prototypes V1 and V2. They also had a bomb in the rear suspension and pulpit a single machine gun type MG 15
. In addition, the machine with the BMW 132K engine were equipped (960
hp), which became the standard engine for all subsequent series.
The three machines of the B-0 series with the serial numbers 2519, 2520
and 2521 had a single central float with stabilizing floats under the
wings. Your equipment corresponded otherwise the A-2. The troops took place from 1940 to 1941. testing The three machine then flew in aboard Squadron 1/196 in Wilhelmshaven.
In spring 1939, the serial numbers were in 2520 (central float) and
2523 (twin float) the 10th season of the (lake) teaching Squadron 2
passed in Travemünde to flight and field tests.
You always amaze with these obscure planes.....Love ow that wing folds back, engineering at its best.

ReplyDeleteAmazing work. I love everything you did with this. How does this kit compare to the A-version kit in detail, fir & finish?
ReplyDeleteThanks Cyber Golem - The quality is the same as the "A" version which is excellent. Good fit. The only problem I found with this kit was in the decals. Not in the quality but the white circle decal on the fin flash was way too small. So you'll need to replace that. Plus of course as with German Revell there are no Swastika decals either. So you'll need to get a set if you wish. The model is overall RLM 02 in colour as well as aluminum.
