Something found on the Moon

Here are some images plus a composite of my diorama "Something found on the Moon".
The aircraft is Monogram's 1/48 scale Curtiss P 40 B Warhawk and the astronauts are taken from Monogram's 1/48 scale Apollo Lunar Landing Diorama.
The surface was made from Woodland Scenics hydrocal and ballast material.

A discovery found on the moon by Apollo 17 astronauts Eugene Cernan and Harrison Schmitt on December 16, 1972.
Due to it's possible implications and the effects on the general public should this discovery be made public, NASA and the US government do not wish you to know about this find.

Yep. I bet the Monolith is buried just underneath it too.

that's awesome Warren!
Maybe all the stuff from the Bermuda Triangle are there someplace!

Thanks Pat - Oh I wouldn't be surprised.

I guess the old truism that P-40s had poor performance at high altitude isn't *quite* accurate!

That was a clever idea; thanks for the laugh!

That's the spookiest piece of music I have ever heard. I get chills everytime I hear it. Believe it or not Sponge Bob has a great spoof of this theme. I'm thankful that 2001 has had such a pop cultural influence. After seeing the Sponge Bob episode, my kids are interested in seeing the movie.

By the way, the diorama is very creative. I love stuff like that. It reminds me of the painting "Ceiling Unlimited".

Thanks Dave it is creepy stuff.
Did you ever see that X Files episode where they find some ancient pottery with these lines running around the circumference of the surface? When they played these lines you hear music similar to Ligeti's.
