HE 219



Here are some images of Dave Porters Tamiya 1/48 scale Heinkel HE 219 Uhu and here in his own words is his description.

This is the nasty German HE-219 “Owl” night fighter. It would have played a far larger role in the war had it not been so expensive to build, had it more dependable engines, had Ernst Heinkel held more favor with the RLM. Therefore, production was cut short in favor of the continuing use of the ME-110 and newer JU-88 developments. The crews loved its capability when its engines were performing. They also loved the tricycle landing gear layout. The firepower was immense and it had plenty of endurance at high power settings.

This kit is the beautiful Tamiya 1/48 version. The detail and fit is very impressive. I like the poseable flaps and the upward firing cannon’s details…..pretty jazzy.
