Беспилотные советского разведывательного спутника
Here are some images of my scratchbuilt Unmanned Soviet Recon Probe from the movie 2010 Odyssey Two "The Year We Make Contact". Scale 1" for every 1m.
I built this model based from the old L miller plan drawings from the late 80's
Researching this model was difficult. I could find no usable photos from the Interweb and it is barely visible when it makes its appearance in the film. More silhouette and shadow than anything.
So when it came to colours and markings I was relegated imagination and guess work.
Still I think it turned out pretty well.
A technical error I noticed about this design is that there doesn't appear to be any side thrusters. Oh well it's only a movie.
The stencil work were taken from decals left over from the Testors Mig Ferret kit and a German tank model..
Specifications:
Weight: 6390 lbs
Speed: 35ft/sec2
Range: 500,000 MI
Engines: Chemical Rockets
Weapons: None
Defenses: None
Capable of Planet Fall.
Here are two scenes from 2010 Odyssey Two "The year we make contact".

Excellent idea why the videos, Warren. I wonder if you've ever tried to make a Muromets ILYA, Russian bomber of 1,915, with a forest of braces.
Greetings
Diego
Gracias Diego - No, no, aunque estoy seguro de Alas Tuerca mariposa hará escala 1 / 32 de un día. Ese avión es casi tan fuerte aparejado como un buque de vela.
Very, very nice! I really liked 2010 and remember the Soviet probe, but I mostly remember it being strongly backlit so almost no detail was visible.
Yours is so nice I'll accept it as the genuine article.
Thanks William - The one good thing about lack of information is that it allows one to embellish and be a little creative.
What an undertaking that must have been! Good job...
Thanks pat - It was fun to do.
I have a fridge that is black and rectangular .......and "My God, it's full of beer".
That's a very nice build Warren.
Dave
Thanks Dave - So these guys are really there to raid your fridge then.
