Phantom

Here are some images of Revells 1/32 scale F4-J Phantom. This is a great economic alternative to the extremly expensive Tamiya F4 Phantom. It is amazing to me that at one time the U.S. military believed that it was unnecessary for fighter aircraft to have machine guns. Perhaps during the Vietnam war many more Phantom pilots would have come home if their aircraft were equipped with them. Thankfully that error has been corrected.

Starfighter

Here are some images of Revells 1/32 and 1/48 scale Lockheed F 104 G Starfighters. I am waiting for the day when some model company releases a decent large scale version of this model. But until that time these will have to do.

F 117 Nighthawk

Here are some images of Testors 1/32 scale Lockheed F 117 Nighthawk. This was the first F117 kit to be released and apparently cost over 1 million dollars to produce based purely from photographs taken during test flights as it was still classified. Considering what they had to go on it was a pretty impressive result. This aircrafts appearance was under much speculation during the 80s and model kit companies such as Testors/Italeri and Monogram released speculative model kits on this subject, both kits being called the F 19 as that was the assumed name of the aircraft. Here is an image of Monograms 1/48 scale F 19 Stealth fighter and as you can see were way off. Still it's a cool looking aircraft. Here is an image of the Testors/Itarei F 19 taken from the internet and as you can see is a little closer but also way off.

YF 22

Here are some images of Testors 1/32 scale Lockheed YF 22 Rapier prototype. There seems to be this ongoing debate of which is the better looking aircraft the YF 22 prototype or the F 22 Raptor. When they release a 1/32 scale F 22 I'll let you know. The one thing I noticed about this model was the lack of cockpit detail. I suppose in the 90s when this model was released the cockpit detail was classified. The F 22 is supposed to replace the F16, F15, F14, F18, and the F117 which in the long run saves the U.S. Airforce a tidy sum but due to the brain dead stupidity of the Obama administration with its shutting down of the F 22 program that doesn't look like that will be happening any time soon.

Tomcat

Here are some images of Revells 1/32 scale Grumman F14-a Tomcat. This is a nice looking model when finished but it was a rough road getting there. Attaching the front section of the fuselage required a heavy use of Houdini dynamics and a fair bit of Squadron putty just to get it to fit and look right. The decals were so thin as to almost fall apart in water although I suspect that this was just a freak set that I just happened to get. I fixed the decal problem by simply applying a clear coat over the decal sheet although this required more cutting.

Heinkel HE 162A-2 Volksjager (The Peoples Plane)

Here are some images of Revells 1/32 scale Heinkel HE 162A-2 Volksjager. This aircraft was designed and built very quickly (desperation has a tendency of doing that). Although this aircraft was intended to be flown by Hitler Jugen it was in fact an extremely difficult and tricky machine to fly. The model itself was a nice and straight forward model to build. If you decide to build one just make sure you put plenty of ballast in the nose.

Lightning

Here are some images of Revells 1/32 scale Lockheed P 38 J Lightning. I believe this model is one of the last models released by Revell to have raised panel lines (thank God).

Mosquito MK IV

Here are some images of Revells 1/32 scale Mosquito MK IV Bomber. Until the 1/24 scale Airfix model came along this was the largest Mosquito model you could buy and after so many years in production it holds up pretty well even to this day. Although a problem I have always found with Revell/Monogram decals of the past other then the heavy flash was that they were printed in process colour (CYMK) as opposed to the required solid colour. A way of keeping the printing costs down I suppose though not as accurate.

Focke Wulf FW 190 A - 5

Here are some images of Hasegawas 1/32 scale Focke Wulf FW 190 A-5. I believe this is the only 1/32 scale Focke Wulf on the mass market and it is tired and old as can be attested to by its raised panel lines. Please if anyone knows of a newer kit on the market I would love to here about it.

F6 Mustang

Here are some images of Dragon models 1/32 scale F6 Mustang. This model boasts varying depths of recessed panel lines although I have found one big problem with this kit. The main landing gear was to weak and as a result I had to reinforce them, a real pain I can tell you. I also noticed that problem with Dragons BF 110 tail wheel. The plastic I believe is to rubbery in consistency. I hope they fix that problem some day.
