Type 90 Kyū-maru

Here are some images plus a composite of Tamiya's 1/35 scale Type 90 Tank with mine roller. From Wikipedia "The Type 90 tank ( Kyū-maru-shiki-sensya) is the current main battle tank (MBT) of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF). It is built byMitsubishi Heavy Industries and was designed as a replacement for all deployed Type 61s and a portion of their Type 74 tanks, and entered service in 1990. It is slated to be complemented by the Type 10 tank.". The type 92 mine roller was used on the main tank of the Japanese defense force, the type 90 tank each holds 2 arms which holds 5 steel disks each suspended by a chain. With a weight of about 12 tons this unit proved effective in the detonation of pressure sensitive mines.

Being an afficionado for Soviet/Russian armour, something about this picture just didn't look right.

The Russian T-90 looks much more like a T-72 or T-80 than the flat-sided turret on this tank shows.

If you check, you'll find that Tamiya makes a Type 90 tank of the Japanese Self Defence Force, which is what you've go there.

if someone wants to build a T-90, they have some aftermarket parts and a bit of scratchbuilding to do.

Still, it's a great job on a tough kit.

Ed- I see what you are saying. I'll fix it immediately. I just assumed there was only one T 90.

Whatever it is, it is an awesome piece of work.

Pat- That information was fixed so now it is what it says it is. I got my Russian T 90s confused with my Japanese T 90s. Both different tanks.
